What happened to the Nonadventures Arc?
Was it dropped? If so, why?
Why do the new oneshots for NA have a completely different storyline?
Where can I read the old Nonadventures Arc?
What would have happened in the old NA if you had continued it?

To find the answers to these questions, read on below.

Apology to the readers of the old Nonadventures Arc

We'll begin with an apology. We're well aware of the popularity of the old Nonadventures Arc and how many of you had been looking forward to seeing it continued in the next oneshot. Many of you waited two whole years for us to update, only to now find out we've dropped the project. We can imagine how disappointing it would be, and we're sorry. We sincerely are sorry.

Why the project has been dropped

We had every intention to continue the Arc as planned. But every time both of us got together to work on it, something seemed to come up in real life that would postpone the update even more.

By the time we finally had everything set up, we looked back on what we had written for the new oneshot and realized how unhappy we were with it. So we aimed for a quick rewrite.

But then that wasn't enough for us. We looked back on the first three oneshots and, while we had some pretty fond memories of them, we noticed how out of character both Cloud and Leon were. That bothered us to the point where we couldn't force ourselves to continue the Arc until we rewrote the oneshots we already had.

Which would have taken a lot of extra time. Time that neither of us really had.

We also realized that, if we had rewritten the first three oneshots and made Cloud and Leon in character, the story couldn't have continued in the same direction. Cloud wouldn't have said "I love you" in Too Late, Leon wouldn't have had a reason to freak out and close off on Cloud the way he did, and then they wouldn't have broken up. Yup. The Arc would have been much, much different.

We contemplated just rewriting the entire thing even though it would be drastically different, but... weeeeell, after hours and hours of deliberation, we came up with a better idea.

Plans for the new Nonadventures Arc

The new Nonadventures Arc will be canon-based, and most of the oneshots will take place after KHII. Leon and Cloud will be two of the main focuses, like last time, but so will Riku, Sora, and Kairi, (along with many, many other characters!).

We not only want to stay true to all the characters and their characterizations this time, we also want to stay true to KH itself (while indulging our sense of fangirlism, of course). This means that, yes, there will be relationships, there will be drama and angst and humor and romance amongst our favorite characters-

But we will also focus on KH elements, such as Disney characters interacting with Final Fantasy and KH characters. There will be more than one world to visit, and some cute simple oneshots in between the major plot-filled oneshots.

Essentially, all those tiny canon-based oneshot ideas we've had building over the years-we're throwing them all together to make one huuuuuuge epic Arc full of nonadventures and adventures.

The old Nonadventures Arc will live on in memory. But this new Nonadventures Arc will be a breath of fresh air for us.

We're really excited about it, and we hope you'll stick around for the ride!

Summary for the old Nonadventures Arc

Now, to appease curiosities, here is the summary of where the old Nonadventures Arc would have gone.

Sephiroth and Cloud:

These two get much, much closer and eventually develop into a real relationship. Cloud actually starts making the moves on Sephiroth, but Sephiroth holds himself back because he doesn't want to just be rebound for Cloud's break-up with Leon.

During their progressing relationship, Sephiroth's sickly mother Jenova winds up in the hospital, and Sephiroth asks Cloud to accompany him. Cloud meets not only Sephiroth's mother, but also his three brothers: Kadaj, Yazoo, Loz. The trip is eventful, and Cloud learns a lot more about Sephiroth (even that Sephiroth is a mama's boy). Afterward, every time they try to get closer and closer to each other, from kissing to actual making out, they always get interrupted by something (cell phone, oven going off, etc.).

Sephiroth eventually invites Cloud on a tropical getaway trip with him because he thinks it'd be good for both of them. Sephiroth is stressed from work, and Cloud is still recovering from the Leon thing. Cloud agrees to go.

Meanwhile...

Leon:

Leon is trying to move on in his life. He still wants to be with Cloud, but because of his past, he's scared to openly love someone. He sees Cloud and Sephiroth getting closer and closer, and gets even more discouraged.

After talking with Sora about life and Cloud (such as, "Cloud's just as lonely as you are," "Cloud has Sephiroth-he's happy, and I want him to be happy," "Leon, just talk to him"), Leon decides to get an apartment of his own. But in the process of gathering his things from his and Cloud's old apartment, he sometimes bumps into Cloud. One night, he finds the old stuffed lion plushie and accidentally falls asleep while holding it and thinking about Cloud. Cloud catches him sleeping and sees the dried tear-tracks on Leon's face, and when he touches them, Leon wakes up.

Cloud and Leon do talk occasionally to try reestablishing some semblance of a relationship, but it's very tentative. Once Leon gets his new apartment, one day Cloud shows up to help him paint. As they're painting, however, they somehow wind up rekindling a lot of the feelings they had for each other, and they wind up making out against the wall. Sephiroth calls and interrupts, and Cloud leaves soon after, leaving Leon's feeling practically where they started. He definitely isn't over Cloud, and Cloud definitely isn't over him.

Meanwhile...

Riku and Sora:

Sora starts trying to be more independent and even gets his own job (with Cloud at a department store). After Sora talks to Leon about Cloud, Leon decides to move out and move on in his life, and Sora accepts it easily. Riku doesn't. He thinks Sora intimidated Leon into leaving, and after an argument (which Sora wins), Riku concedes to Sora's point that Leon does need to get his act together, and babying Leon won't help.

Sora spends even more time with Leon and takes him to cafés and stuff. Along the way, Sora meets Axel, who is suffering from a break-up with Roxas, and-well, Axel takes an interest in Sora. That plotline wasn't really developed, though. Eventually Axel was going to go back to Roxas and patch things up.

Riku was supposed to have a deep interest in his Psychology professor Ansem (Xehanort), but whether or not there was going to be an actual affair between them (or just a misunderstanding in Sora's head) remains unclear in the notes.

Later...

After Sephiroth and Cloud have their vacation together, they are full-fledged lovers, though a big part of Cloud still wants Leon. But when Sephiroth asks Cloud to move with him to England, or at least try living there a while with him, Cloud agrees.

About the time Tidus and Selphie's wedding comes around, Cloud and Sephiroth are on their way to the airport to leave to England. Riku takes Leon to the airport to stop them (while for some reason Sora tries to delay the wedding by a game of hokey-pokey, we don't remember why). And when they get to the airport, Cloud and Leon say goodbye. Sephiroth is irritated that Leon had managed to show up.

Leon finally says he loves Cloud-and Cloud can tell he really means it, and probably had meant it for a long time, but couldn't find the voice to say it. Cloud is stunned...

But Sephiroth and Cloud board the plane together anyway. During the plane ride, Cloud thinks about Leon the entire way. Sephiroth and Cloud wind up arguing a lot while in England, and eventually Cloud says he wants to go home. Sephiroth makes it clear that if Cloud leaves, even if he changes his mind later, it'll be too late. Sephiroth isn't going to give him another chance. Cloud goes home anyway. Cloud and Leon wind back up together.

And that's the end. That's all we had had planned.

Ending Notes

The old Nonadventures Arc will remain on Uzumaki's site in the Dropped Projects section for an indefinite amount of time, and that will probably be the only place you can read it.

We want to thank all of the amazing readers who took the time to leave kind words about the story. We're grateful that so many people loved the story despite its flaws, and we can only hope that you return for the new Nonadventures Arc!

Thanks again, and we're sorry for any disappointment we might have caused. We're looking forward to writing this new NA, so please stick around. :)
